Jake Ryland Williams

Associate Professor, Department of Information Science, College of Computing and Informatics, Drexel University

Dr. Jake Ryland Williams is a natural scientist who is trained in physics, mathematics, and scientific programming. Their work includes a decade-long progression of critical works and theories for quantitative linguistics. These theories lead to applications in NLP, computational social science, and data engineering, including government-funded projects building NLP tools for forum moderation on social media platforms whose users discuss mass media news content.

As an educator at Drexel’s College of Computing and Informatics, Jake develops and teaches data science (DS) coursework at a variety of levels, spanning undergraduate and graduate core DS curricula, as well as specialized electives focused on NLP with deep learning, DS research education, and seminars focusing on the impact of AI applied as social infrastructure.
